OUR LIBRARY
A Space to Explore & Relax
At the heart of Sweet Valley Primary School is our wonderful library. It is a place where children can step away from the usual hustle and bustle of school life, gather with friends for a board game, discover a new novel, catch up on homework, or simply relax on a beanbag during break time, before school, or after school.
The Sweet Valley Library currently boasts an impressive collection of 14 000 books. Each day, hundreds of books fly off the shelves as eager children search for their next favourite read.

Books for Every Reader
We aim to cater for a wide range of interests, reading levels, and genres. While there are designated areas in the library where children can choose age-appropriate reading material, our ultimate goal is to foster a genuine love for reading and to keep children returning for more. With an excellent selection of non-fiction books for both Foundation Phase and InterSen children, as well as graphic novels, easy readers, beginner chapter books, puzzle books, novels, and classic stories, we work hard to encourage children to read widely and often.
Learning, Activities & Celebration
Each week, every Foundation Phase class visits the library for a lesson. During this time, children have the opportunity to choose their own books, learn about library and book etiquette, and enjoy a story read aloud. Intermediate Phase classes attend an hour-long lesson focused on developing important library-related skills. They are also able to borrow a book and spend time reading independently.
The library is a joyful space where something exciting always seems to be waiting around the next bookshelf. From World Book Day and Dr Seuss’s birthday to Library Week and Hooked on Books, we love celebrating the joy, imagination, and fun that books and reading bring.
